Description

mission:alARm is primarily an independent study on UI/UX Prototyping and the Design Thinking Process, though this is a personal project in mobile development in which I am acting as my own Artistic Director, Programmer, and UI/UX Specialist. In other words, this project is completely and utterly my beloved brainchild (second to my master's research, of course). I am purposefully leaving out as much detail as possible so as not to expose all of my ideas before project completion, please understand.

Workflow

Everything starts with pencil on paper! The first image is a sketch taken from my low-fidelity wireframe, the second image is the low-poly 3D modeling process in Autodesk 3ds Max, and the third image is the final high-fidelity prototype -- all of the same scene I'd envisioned since the sketching stage.

From Ideation...

aka scribbling down ideas as they come.

To Content Mapping...

aka putting down all the ideas in a map that makes some sense.

To Finally, Application Flow!

aka refining the ideas into a flow that makes a lot of sense.

Low-fidelity Wireframe:

The only time in my life I wished for a larger sketchbook.

2D Asset Design:

The button designs were created in Adobe Illustrator and went through two iterations before they made sense to everyone I showed it to. Hey, that's not so bad!

Low-poly 3D Modeling:

Autodesk 3ds Max for the win! I felt like I was playing a much more intense version of the Sims -- designing bedrooms from scratch. This was absolutely my favorite part of the entire project. I'm no architect, but they didn't turn out so bad eh?

High-fidelity Wireframe:

I used Proto.io in creating this prototype. Email me for high-quality videos, the ones below were intentionally uploaded in low-quality.

Testing the AR functionality

Why would my app require an Augmented Reality functionality? Well, that's a secret... for now!
